Blue Mosque (Kapuyt Mzkit)

An 18th-century Iranian Twelver Shia mosque commissioned in 1765-66 by Hoseyn Ali Khan, ruler of the Erivan Khanate. It is the only active mosque in Armenia today and one of the oldest surviving structures in central Yerevan. Secularized under Soviet rule and used as a history museum for over five decades, it was restored with Iranian government support and reopened as a mosque in 1996; the complex now also functions as a cultural center for Armenia's Iranian community.
