Shehanshah Hussain Naqvi

Allama Syed Shehanshah Hussain Naqvi (b. January 1, 1975, Karachi) is a Pakistani Shia scholar and one of the most prominent orators addressing Muharram gatherings in Karachi today. Born into a religious family, he began reciting marsiya alongside his father as a child, receiving his early education in Khairpur and Hyderabad, Sindh before continuing his advanced religious studies in Qom, Iran, and completing an M.A. in Islamic Studies. He holds the title Hujjat-ul-Islam wal-Muslimeen.

He now addresses the principal Ashra-e-Muharram majalis and the major Chehlum/Arbaeen gatherings at Nishtar Park in Karachi, continuing a line of orators at that historic venue that includes Allama Rasheed Turabi and Allama Talib Jauhari before him. His central theme is what he calls Hussainiyat versus Yazeediyat — framing resistance to injustice, corruption, and extremism as the enduring message of Karbala — and he has been an outspoken critic of terrorism in Pakistan, calling on the government to dismantle extremist networks at a time when many religious scholars were reluctant to do so publicly. He extends this framework to advocacy for Kashmir, Palestine, and other Muslim communities facing conflict.

Beyond Pakistan, he addresses Muharram gatherings for Shia communities across Canada (including Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal), Australia, and other Western countries, and has traveled to India and Iran to address audiences and strengthen ties with religious institutions there.
