Biography

Sean Ali Stone (born 9 November 1984 in New York City) is an American actor, filmmaker, author, and media personality. He is the son of Academy Award-winning filmmaker Oliver Stone and his second wife Elizabeth Burkit Cox. He grew up immersed in the film world, appearing as a child actor in several of his father's films including Born on the Fourth of July (1989), The Doors (1991), JFK (1991), Natural Born Killers (1994), Nixon (1995), and Any Given Sunday (1999).

He converted to Twelver Shia Islam in a ceremony in Isfahan, Iran in February 2012, taking the Islamic name Ali. His conversion attracted significant media attention given his father's prominence. He has spoken about arriving at Islam through his interest in spirituality, comparative religion, and mysticism, and has described the conversion as the culmination of a long spiritual journey. He has been open about his Shia identity and has participated in Muharram commemorations.

As a filmmaker, he has directed and produced documentary films on topics including geopolitics, consciousness, and alternative history. He has appeared as a television host and commentator on international affairs, geopolitics, and spirituality, appearing on platforms including RT America and various podcasts. He is also an author and has written about consciousness, symbolism, and spiritual themes. He appeared as an actor in the film Savages (2012), directed by his father. He maintains an active presence on social media discussing Islamic spirituality, geopolitics, and cultural topics.
