Abdollah Javadi Amoli

Grand Ayatollah Abdollah Javadi Amoli is a leading contemporary Iranian Shia scholar, philosopher, and Quranic exegete. After training in his hometown of Amol, then Tehran, he settled in the Qom seminary in 1955 under some of the era's most prominent Grand Ayatollahs. He briefly served as a member of Iran's Assembly of Experts for Constitution in 1979, representing Mazandaran Province, and for many years served as Friday Prayer Leader of Qom, resigning in November 2009 citing health reasons. He is widely regarded as one of the foremost living authorities on Quranic exegesis and Islamic philosophy in the Shia tradition, best known for his extensive Tafsir Tasnim commentary.
