Hossein Taheri

Hossein Taheri is a prominent Iranian Maddah (religious elegist and chanter) based in Tehran, widely regarded as one of the most gifted and emotionally powerful Maddahs of his generation. A Maddah is a religious performer who recites elegies, salutations, and lamentations in honor of the Prophet Muhammad and the Ahlul-Bayt, particularly during the months of Muharram and Safar and on other Shia religious occasions.

Taheri is known for his distinctive vocal style that combines classical Persian poetic forms with deeply emotional delivery, creating recitations that resonate profoundly with Shia audiences. His performances at major religious gatherings in Tehran, particularly his Muharram majalis (commemorative gatherings), have become significant cultural events.
