Buratha Mosque
A historic mosque in the Karkh district of Baghdad, traditionally believed to have been a Nestorian Christian monastery until its monk converted to Islam after meeting Imam Ali. Shia tradition holds that Ali rested here after fighting the Khawarij and struck a spring from the mosque floor. It was the site of a devastating 2006 suicide bombing that killed 85 people.
